Challenges
The supply of the customer’s technical sites with critical spare-parts is shaped by high volumes and complex operating conditions. More than 1,700 parcels are handled across Germany each night, primarily through overnight deliveries to unmanned locations. On-time delivery is business-critical, as technicians must be fully operational first thing in the morning.
The range of parts to be transported is highly diverse, spanning from small spare parts to large-volume components such as cable ducts and cable reels. In addition, inter-site transfers and returns to different points of origin must be managed reliably.
Many locations are completely unmanned at night, security-sensitive, or accessible only under restricted conditions. Drivers operate independently and must know exact drop-off points, access routes, and security requirements.
As the operator of critical infrastructure, the enterprise customer does not tolerate delays or process uncertainty.
Solution
Together with CTDI, LPR developed and implemented a transport solution tailored specifically to the demanding requirements of the customer’s technical infrastructure. From the central warehouse in Noerten-Hardenberg and additional locations across Germany, LPR handles timecritical night-time and day-time deliveries, ensuring that spare parts are available at technical sites by 7:00 a.m. at the latest.
A key success factor is the close operational coordination between CTDI and LPR. Experienced drivers with indepth site knowledge, clearly defined drop-off procedures, and aligned process specifications enable reliable deliveries even to unmanned and security-sensitive locations.
Heterogeneous shipments, inter-site transfers, and returns to different points of origin are fully integrated into the process and executed in a way that ensures materials are correctly assigned, placed, and returned. This creates a stable handover from overnight logistics to the technician’s working day.
